Townsville Recreational Boating Precinct is a hub for keen anglers and water lovers alike. When upgrading this facility, Townsville City Council wanted to create a safe environment using LED lighting that would stand up to the tough coastal conditions common to this area. Using the Cree LEDway from Advanced Lighting Technologies (ADLT) has given the council the ability to use a proven performer in harsh environments that has the flexibility to work on high wattage 240v and low wattage solar. Advanced Lighting Technologies teamed up with their solar partners Orca Solar Lighting to provide low wattage LEDways that are the perfect match for solar lighting. The end result is a fantastic precinct that looks great and provides a safe environment for everyone from families to keen anglers and anyone else who enjoys getting out on the water.
The $25 Million Townsville Recreational Boating Precinct will provide the North Queensland recreational boating community with a world-class sheltered all-tide facility. This joint venture between Townsville City Council, The Department of Transport and Main Roads, and Port of Townsville Limited will comprise 16 boating ramps, with floating walkways at each ramp, 360 parking spaces for vehicles with trailers and huge parkland with barbeque and picnic facilities, much of it lit with solar lighting.
