LED quality is becoming a serious issue in the lighting industry, with a flood of new suppliers providing
cheap imitations and inferior products. Here are three key features to look out for when purchasing your next

Color Rendering Index is the ability of a light source to reproduce the colors of the object it is illuminating
faithfully in comparison with a natural light source. The CRI is an index from 1 to 100, 100 being a perfect
score (e.g. sun light). Many inferior products that flood the market nowadays will have a lower CRI.
ADLT LED’s uses technologies such as Cree TrueWhite® Technology, which delivers an exclusive
combination of industry-leading efficacy (up to 130 lumens per watt), 90+ CRI and consistent warm or cool
color temperatures.

Direction of Light

Unlike an incandescent lamp, which has a filament that emits light in 360°, an LED is a small semiconductor
chip, which by nature only emits light in one direction. LED manufacturers then place a lens on top of the
LED to either narrow or widen this light. Unlike an incandescent lamp, most LED lights come with a specified
beam spread.

Many LED manufactures offer limited choice when it comes to optical selections. Cree has changed this with
their patented and highly-efficient NanoOptic® refractor technology. A wide range of NanoOptic options
provides new possibilities for highly-optimized target illumination performance and the flexibility needed for
application-specific requirements.

Long Life

It is common to hear LED manufacturers boast of their LED lamp life being 50,000 hours or more. While
LEDs have the potential of lasting this long, this is only true if the LED fixture is designed to effectively pull
the heat away from the LED.

ADLT only supplies LED fixtures with excellent thermal management, which contributes to optimal illumination,
reliability and longevity. From advanced heat sink technology to vented outdoor housings, ADLT ensures
all their luminaires are designed to maximize cooling, resulting in LEDs with unmatched performance
and longevity.

When it comes to researching your next LED luminaire it is important to remember that only a few products
on the market actually deliver the technology and quality required to generate true colour rendering, appropriate
light distribution and longevity.
