AS/NZS 4282:2023 Technical Presentations

AS/NZS 4282:2023

Advanced Lighting Technologies are pleased to announce the latest release in our series of technical presentations on Australian Lighting Standards: AS/NZS 4282:2023 - Control of the Obtrusive Effects of Outdoor Lighting.

Originally released in 1997, AS/NZS 4282 has been widely used and referred to by local governments as part of their planning and development approval processes.

This presentation will cover important changes in the new Standard, including:

  • The consideration of all living species, recognising the impact that artificial light can have on biota.

  • Clarification on positioning of calculation planes, including redefined current and future dwellings.

  • Further clarification on environmental zones (including buffer zones).

  • Changes to assessing lit surfaces and TV broadcast spill limits.

We also offer a practical step-by-step guide to creating and assessing an AS/NZS 4282 compliant lighting design in AGi32.
