Addressing unwanted spill light along the perimeter of an outdoor lighting installation is a complex challenge. Whether the goal is to limit light trespass to neighbouring properties (including compliance with AS/NZS 4282), protect local wildlife or to simply optimise your design, specifying a luminaire with stringent light control is essential.
The D-Series Street & Area Light from Holophane is one such solution, mitigating obtrusive light through innovative backlight control measures, including specialised point-source black light engines, integrated specular reflectors with optimised optics, and dedicated light-absorbing backlight shields.
Holophane’s Long & Narrow Backlight Cut-off Optic (BLC) uses these combined measures to project light directly forward and sideways with as little as 0.5% of total backlight reaching beyond the boundary line or column placement. Perfect for optimal back-lighting results when used on paths, curbs and perimeter edging. LEDs are not visible from the rear, which helps to reduce glare from behind.
CORNER CUT-OFF CONTROL
The Right Corner Cut-off Optic (RCCO) and Left Corner Cut-off Optic (LCCO) apply the same principles to restrict spill light to one side, specifically designed for use in perimeter corners found in car parks and other outdoor areas.
