Whitehorse City Council had a vision to create a new vibrant hub for its community. A place where everyone feels welcome, promoting interaction, learning and activity. The Nunawading Community Hub serves as exactly that, bringing community groups, sporting teams, artists and students from all ages and backgrounds together under one roof.
Advanced Lighting Technologies supplied much of the exterior lighting at the hub from our architectural range, which features luminaires from Italian manufacturer Arcluce.
Advanced Lighting Technologies were engaged to design and supply a lighting solution that complemented the architectural styling of the building and its surrounds. Poles no higher than 4m were specified, and the applicable car park and pedestrian areas needed to comply with the following Australian Standard light technical parameters:
• AS/NZS 1158.3.1 Cat P11(b)
• AS/NZS 1158.3.1 Cat P12
• AS/NZS 1158.3.1 Cat P9
And overall, the glare control requirements had to comply with the recommendations of AS/NZS 1158.3.1: 2005 – Table 2.10.
Advanced Lighting Technologies’ architectural range from Arcluce was carefully chosen to meet the most demanding requirements of lighting designers, architects and end users, Arcluce’s products feature high-quality design and craftsmanship, backed by a 5-year guarantee.
The Arcluce Lunio7 LED Street & Area Light & the Arcluce Klou IK LED Bollard were supplied at Nunawading.
The Lunio7 offers uniform illumination across approximately 200 car parks and roadways, while comfortably providing increased light levels for car parking areas reserved for those with disabilities, while the Klou IK is the perfect bollard for the urban environment – combining a level of robustness that can withstand significant impact (including vandalism) with a soft, radial stream of light to help guide the way.
Combining these two fittings provided a winning formula at Nunawading, achieving the required light levels and glare control as recommended by the Australian Standard. The fittings were also supplied with DALI dimming, offering flexibility to reduce light levels during times of low use.
